"Mayor vote clash": Bas Observer, 18 February, Pages 2 and 3.

"'I could be mayor'" / "Dispute is damaging the borough": Baz Gaz, 18 February, Page 2.

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/new ... be_mayor_/

More good reads... and more letters of support for Councillor Phil Heath in today's Baz Gaz Letter's column too.

The local Conservatives have not come out well in this matter imo, and in the opinion of many others it would appear, having read those letters and comments on recent Baz Gaz articles detailed on their website. In fact, this may well damage the local Conservatives and help Councillors Mr & Mrs Heath and their Basingstoke First Community Party a little in the local elections in May? Time will tell.

No they don't at all. Only Harry Robinson comes out of it with any credibility, I expect the Heath's are disappointed with the lack of support from their fellow Kempshott Cllrs.

The Labour party need to shut basingstoketown up as well - he's not doing their cause any favours!

"Mayoral row - your say": Baz Gaz Letter's column, 18 February.

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/let ... _your_say/

In fact, some of the local Councillors and one of its' Officials are in danger of damaging the Council by continuing with this dispute imo... if they haven't damaged it already that is? :(

"Ex-councillor slams bid to block mayor": Baz Gaz, 22 February, Page 2.

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/new ... ock_mayor/

Even former Labour Councillors and this former Mayor are coming out; not so much in support of Councillor Heath imo, but slamming the local Conservatives for the way they are handling this whole matter.

It seems a lot of residents have 'the measure' of our local Conservatives and how poorly they have conducted themselves on this issue. However, I'm not so sure this will be reflected at the ballot box come May / June though?! I really can't see the Conservative majority within B&DBC changing considerably.

I thought very good points were made by "Stevemac1970" again on this article; Reader's Comment 11 on the article below:

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/new ... be_mayor_/

Quote:
... It is strange how the Conservative party leader wouldn't agree with this way of things, or he would tell Gorden Brown to step aside at the General election to clear his name. He has been accused of what amounts to physical assault and nothing happens and that's the Prime Minister. Maybe the Conservatives in Basingstoke believes the Mayor of the town is more important than the Prime Minister?????

"Tory wants leader to quit over mayor row": Baz Gaz, 25 February, Page 2.

"Councillor: 'I'm being bullied'": Baz Gaz, 25 February, Page 2.

"No place for party politics": Letter's column, Baz Gaz, 25 February, Page 16.

Yet more letters from former Mayors and ex-B&DBC Councillors. The local Conservatives really are not doing themselves any favours on this matter at all imo.

Some more good comments on this link... including one from Councillor Phil Heath himself, correcting comments made by someone previously, his comments proving he is no "Yes Man" and does not simply 'toe the Party line' like some of his local ex-colleagues do.

Well done Phil! :) Keep up the good work... and don't let the bug*ers get you or the family down, no matter how hard recent events must have been for you all.

"Voters could still have a say in choice of mayor": Baz Gaz, 1 March, Page 3.

This debacle still rumbles on! It'll be interesting to see just what happens at tonight's "unique meeting".

Well, yet more great reads on this continuing debacle... which will continue well into May it seems.

"Battle to become mayor will go down to wire": Baz Gaz, 4 March, Page 4

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/new ... _the_wire/

"Meeting ends in a walkout" ... again! : Baz Gaz, 4 March, Page 5

"Mayor row rumbles on": Baz Gaz Letters column, 4 March, Page 16.

This week, a letter from B&DBC's Conservative Group Leader, Councillor Mark Ruffell. And he's a lawyer / solicitor too!

"MAYOR ROW": Front Page, Baz Observer, 4 March.

"'I will abide by public's wish,', says mayor vote snub Cllr": Baz Observer, 4 March, Page 3.

Frankly I hope the public do vote Councillor Heath in... just to spite the local Conservatives for their (imo) vindictive approach on this issue.

On the subject of the 'jackanory party' we need an MP interested in more than just platitudes and party conferences.

And I suspect Councillor Phil Heath is pleased he has another year to go before he comes 'up for election' again?! If he was 'up' this year and didn't get re-elected (under the banner of the Basingstoke First Community Party and not the Conservative Party - the Party he was voted in under previously), he most certainly then wouldn't become Mayor! See link:

"Mayoral twist": Baz Gaz, 11 March, Page 2.

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/new ... ral_twist/

What a scream! This local issue is becoming as farcisal as some of those at a Central Government level   , not to mention those in authority within B&DBC bringing shame to our Borough by continuing with this vendeta against Councillor Heath? :x

"Call for committee to drop complaints": Baz Gaz, 18 March, Page 4.

"More questions over vote": Baz Gaz, 18 March, Page 4.

"Investigation is a 'slow torture'": Baz Gaz, 18 March, Page 4.

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/new ... _torture_/

And this debacle continues to rumble on!

"Mayor saga just doesn’t add up": Baz Gaz Letter's column, 18 March.

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/let ... _t_add_up/

Good reads though.

"Bid to solve mayoral crisis sparks rumpus": Baz Gaz, 25 March, Page 4.

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/new ... ks_rumpus/

Too little too late I'm thinking Mr Curtis! What with his possible "conflict of interest" and all! This debacle just beggars belief.

"Thanks for your support": Baz Gaz Letter's column, 25 March, Page 16.

A great letter from Councillor Phil Heath. A good read. :)

'Bullying' complaint to be investigated": Baz Gaz, 1 April, Page 4.

Now it's B&DBC's Conservative Group Leader's turn to be investigated! And he's a Solicitor / Lawyer!

Mayor row is 'Pandora's box": Baz Gaz, 1 April, Page 4.

I know it's April Fool's Day but imo our Conservative administration in B&D are getting more foolish by the minute by continuing with this Mayoral debacle and campaign against Councillor Heath. More letters in today's letters column seem to give a similar message.
